AMMA
policy development is driven by its membership base in a variety of ways:
AMMA’s Board
of Directors is supported by AMMA’s Board Reference Group, which is made up
of senior human resources and employee relations practitioners drawn from
AMMA member companies.
This Board
Reference group has two purposes:
to keep the AMMA Board informed of
strategic human resources and employee relations issues confronting the
resource sector; and
to carry out research and project
work, as directed by the Board.
The Board
Reference Group plays a key role in identifying current and emerging human
resource and employee relations issues. It then provides strategic input into
the development of any industry position on those issues, for example on
transmission of business.
The Group
also closely monitors issues of union coverage and representation. In this
capacity, it is able to ensure that any adverse impacts on the resources
sector are identified and minimised.
AMMA
regularly gathers input and feedback from its membership base on matters of
importance to the sector. Using survey responses, AMMA is able to formulate
positions that represent the true views of resources industry employers.
The numerous
events AMMA holds within a calendar year provide opportunities for AMMA to
gather views and input into its policy direction. At the annual AMMA National
Conference, for instance, AMMA uses instantaneous audience response
technology to ensure discussions and workshops respond immediately to the
directives of the audience (300 of the sector’s most senior decision makers)
which in turn directs AMMA policy.
